I just bought a used tractor and on the side it has a decal that says Massey Ferguson 35, but am wondering if it is really a MF 35. The Serial Number is 125988. Does anyone have any ideas on this tractor?

Does anyone know what the original colors are for a MF 35? The year evidently is 1959, UK model. With the Serial Number 125988, is it a straight Ferguson or a Massey Ferguson tractor? Any more information is appreciated. Thanks!!

While massey and ferguson merged in 1955 it took them a couple of years to work out the kinks. They each built there own brand during this time. Then in 1957-1958 the merger was final. The tractor you have started out as a FE35 (ferguson england)in 1956. Changed to MF35 in 1957 at serial# 74656 and the color change from gold/grey to red/gray at this #. most still referred to it as a FE35 to distinguish that it was built in england and not to confuse with the US built MF35. US is built in inches yours is MM. If you ever rebuild make sure you check differance.

Hi Dennis, There are different serial numbers for USA built 35's and UK built 35's. That serial number corresponds to a UK built 1959 model with the Standard 4 cylinder engine. It should tell you on the manufacturers plate where the tractor was built.
