Hi all, I have a 1986 740GL Volvo that has lost it's spark and won't start and was wondering if any of yall have any ideas as to what could be wrong with it???? I have taken the 1st&2nd spark plug out and laid them up against the manifold, And there was no spark. Sooo I was wondering, Should I check the coil (like I would if it was tractor) or is there something else that is wrong that I'm missing???? It's amazing what can happen when ya change a water pump! Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks, TractorMike

Sounds like it may be "hall sensor". I have an 85 740. Here is a site that is one of the best I have every found. The link I gave is for the FAQs. Look at the "Note:" paragraph. If you still can't get it running, post all the details on the discussion board in the RWD, 700s forum..

Not sure if it matters but if your Volvo has a crank sensor make sure you did not dislodge it or damage it when you did the water pump. If the sensor is not working you may not be able to get spark as is the case with some GM cars I have seen. Good luck and when you find the problem, post the answer if you would.
