Now with the cracked block problem under control I need to jack the front wheels off the ground of a 1946 B Farmall. Right now my plan is put a 4 by 4 on top of the floor jack and locate it under the bell housing and jack the front wheels off the ground. I'm cleaning and repacking the front wheel bearings and installing new tires. Is the bell housing strong enough to support the weight? Thank you in advance for your help.

It's strong enough. That's what I do to jack the front end of my B. There really isn't anyplace else to jack against, unless you want to jack on the oil pan, which I don't reccomend.

The tractor is on a trailer right now. I don't have a lot of manuever room.

Tom put a 2X6 in front of one wheel and push the tractor up on it and then work the other wheel. Do one at a time.

That's what I do, works great if you are doing one wheel at a time. If for some reason you need both wheels off the ground, a jackstand under the clutch housing works fine.
