I have a Ford 3000 I believe. It is a 3 cylinder diesel that has the vents on the hood. The man I bought it from says it is a late 60's model some where between 67-69. My problem is the transmission. It is an 8 speed with a low and high range and it jumps out of gear going down hill. The transmission actually jumps out of the high and low range and not the gears them selves. Third gear some times jumps out when I am mowing. But that usually stops when it gets good and warmed up. Is there a simple solution besides compleately rebuilding the trans or selling the tractor. Is there possibaly a web site that will have a diagram of my transmission so I don't have to go to Ford? Thanks: Mark

One of two things is most likely wrong.
The forks that move the gears are loose are worn and not putting trans all the way in gear. Or the gears are worn and not holding. Kind of hard to say unless you take apart and investegate.

had a similar problem with an old JD A it was loose mounting bolts inside the case had to take it apart but once the bolts were tightened up no more jumping out of ranges. I have copies of the shop manual for your tractor price is 18.00 US email me if you need one it is 186 pages has great transmission diagrams and how to take it apart.
