I have a Ford 1700 with a front end loader and just purchased a 20 year old backhoe that was unused for the last 5+ years. When I connected it, nothing moved, even the front end loader wouldn't work anymore.
When I reversed the in/out hoses on the backhoe, weak movement was noted in some of the cylinders. After disconnecting the QD, loader ops returned to normal. Any ideas of what I should do next?

Depends on how you are trying to connect. If you are Teeing in to your system the response that your describe will happen. You will have to complete the circuit. From the return on loader valve to the B/H then back to reservoir or if equiped from your power beyond on loader valve to B/H. If you are using quick couplers, kill engine before connecting or disconnecting.
