Guys-
Got one for you: freind has a wisconsin twin on a baler and after it runs and gets good and warm it dies. A 30 min. cool-down and it will re-fire and die again after getting hot again. I suspect ignition? inputs appreciated!!

Sounds like a normal Wisconsin engine! Miserable to restart when hot.

jms-
any idea why they are such brutes to re-start? is it typical vapor-lock, maybe?

TFD&THD engines used in baler applications often were fitted w/a"high temperature safety switch kit" due to the hot dusty environment they were used in.This consisted of a sensor switch that attached under a headbolt, with a wire to the magneto. If engine became too hot, switch closed and grounded magneto.Check for this switch and make sure all shrouding is clear of chaff and crud, and proper oil is being used(30W).

Thanks for that info - I didn't know they were used back then. Mind you, I've only seen one engine driven baler run and that was a Case about 40 years ago! All I saw was the shute end of it as I was the two armed Stackliner on the wagon.

You're probably right. A bad condensor will cause that. It could be in the fuel (vapor lock, dirty filter, etc.) but go with your hunch. I'm betting the ingition parts are original or close to it (not too many of us, speaking for myself of course, are into changing things out until something quits). Good luck with it.
