Hi Guys,

I was recently involved in a deal that I later read about on some of the other posts here. I am an educated person...maybe a little too trusting...but I was "snookered" I figured it out before it was too late....but if you get a Cashiers check....especially if it is more than the purchase.....whether it involves money that was owed the purchaser...or in my case it was to be used to pay the overseas shipper...trust me...it seemed legit...if you get a check...go to your bank or credit union and they can run a check on it for you to make sure it is good before you go to the Western Union office....If you are sending money by Western Union..SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM....did I say SCAM....after years of buying and selling I never met an old boy that didn't either show up with cash or or send half before delivery....and another thing....If they just want the purchase...and don't want to talk on the phone about their tractors...you have a NON TRACTOR person....be careful... by the way.... I only lost $ 135...the cost of sending the funds out of the country...thank god they would only accept $ 3000 at a time....or per day....but I stopped the transfer..at no cost...and I was able to pick up the phony money and return it to the bank...

I posted to help prevent....not to be told I should have used my head..... .do you guys know how much it costs to send a 6,000# tractor over seas....5,000 doesn't seem so out of line....the tractor was for sale for 2500...I got a check unannounced for 7500..does this seem so unreasonable....put that tractor in a row boat and start rowing.....you tell me if it would of been worth 5,000 to deliver it...

Dude, I know you learned your lesson this time. But, I have to ask... Didnt you think it at all odd, period, that someone was willing to pay $5000 over the asking price for a tractor? Tractors are in every country of the world, thay have no need to purchase one here and have it shipped. I'm not saying this to make you mad, you did the right thing posting what happened so someone else doesnt get clobbered. Unfortunately it is greed(in all of us) that falls for this scam when they offer an extra bonus to you for your troubles. And I'd bet thats what they did, right? Since I have posted things for sale here, I've gotten 3 letters for assistance in getting anywhere from 12-32 million dollars outta Africa, and some God fearin woman wanting to buy what I had for sale. If you get any of these in the future, throw a few good ripe words in and send 'em back. Eventually these scumbags will get the message.
Glad you didnt lose any more than you did.

Here it is...maybe i wasn't clear...the check just showed up for 5200 over the asking price.....I had no warning it was coming like that....as it turns out it was a very very very good faked cashiers check with watermark and multi colored paper and pattterns and all....and then i was told it was to pay the overseas shipping

Hmmm... not exactly sure how this was going to benefit the guy. I'm pretty sure he really wasnt going to have you ship him the tractor. Kinda hard to send a tractor to a blind box somewhere. These clowns dont want you to know where they are, too easy to get busted, or better yet,DEAD. And dont be too embarrassed. You arent the only one to get suckered in. I bet it will never happen again,eh?
Best of luck!

Anonymous II,

One thing you stated that if very wrong.

Good antigue tractors are not all over the world. I met a guy (actually bought a tractor from him) who makes a living buying tractors in North America and sending them to buyers in Europe (England, Ireland etc.). He said that last year he sent over 100 tractors to Europe.

So a buyer form overseas should not be imediately discounted. But you should be able to tell a real tractor guy form a scammer. Make them call you and talk TRACTORS not money. You will know quickly if he is for real.

If in doubt ask the guy if he has purchased other tractors from someone in North America that you can talk to.

- If it sounds too good to be true. . . . guess what? IT"S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!!!! !!!
- There is no such thing as a free lunch, sooner or later, someone is going to pick up the check.
- If it's good, it's not going to be cheap. If it's cheap, it's not going to be good.
- The more conditions placed on a transaction, the more you are going to get SCREWED!!!!

Live by these old sayings, repeat them often. They'll keep you out of trouble and your money safely in the bank.

"A fool and his money are soon parted." (Probably one of the oldest sayings in the history of mankind) Bona fortuna, Jim

Why do people buy stuff from telemarketers? They would go away if no one bought.

why do people fall for these scams? They wouldn't try if no one fell for it.

Let's all use our heads.
