I keep getting wierd e-mails concerning undeliverable messages from various addresses (AOL postmaster & others). The problem is that I haven't sent any. I have done several computer scans with Norton anti-virus (with the latest updates) but haven't found anything. Do I have a virus, or is someone trying to send me one? Thanks for any help!

Gary, I've been having the same problem. First night, I got 50 or so return messages. Not one did I recognize. Next morning, there were another 50 or so. Now it's down to a small dribble - a couple every few days. Keep your Norton updated, and you're probably OK - as the others say here.

Gary its simply another computer that is spoofing your email address thats all. you don't have a virus so don't worry about it. I would go into an in depth explanation but it really isn't necessary. I'm an IT manager for a corporation so its ok. Its just the latest Sobig F virus. please be sure to run your windows update though... any more questions just ask..

I would venture to say another infected computer is using your email address in the "from" line. When the mail is undeliverable, it comes back to you.

I've had this happen several times also. Just delete the messages. Be sure to run your virus software often and keep it updated and you should be ok.

Also, I've added a link to YT's sister site. I posted this last night about computers running slow due to spyware programs that infect your system. Click the link to check it out, it's free!!

Actually some of these may be undeliverable return receipts.
As mentioned, don't open them, just delete them, and that SHOULD reduce the number of the NDAs (Non-Delivery Acknowledgement), but you'll still get some from deleting them... It's just a way that the spammers go about getting verified email addresses.

In this case, it was a virus that 'forged' the 'FROM' line on the messages.

What happens is that someone got the virus, and your email address is stored on _their_ computer. The virus picks up your address, and pretends some messages it sends out (with virus attached) is from you.

Just delete them. You would not have the virus, and you can't control it. It will keep happening until the person that has this virus gets rid of it.

Thanks folks! I'll continue to delete them, and I'll try the link to the spyware removal.
