Well, I've got some activity. I made some calls, a local (Twin Cities) news station ran a live broadcast from our house last night. They were supposed to do it Monday but it got moved to last night. I let a few people know this was going to happen and guess what? Got some action. Had an investigator assigned to the case, he stopped by last night and is going to talk to the neighbors and see what he can find out. I've been told our case has the involvement of some of the top people in the county now. Left for work this morning and there was a car parked in the field road....a cop car....stopped and talked to the officer and thanked him. He said they found another field road up the road a bit they didn't know was there and will be keeping their eye on that also. Cops now want to find the guy because it's been reported in the news. My hope is this guy has been seen in the neighborhood before and someone has some information that will help the police - may also think twice about coming by our place for a while with increased police activity. The investigator said cases like this are very rare, (that's comforting) but thought we might have a good chance because of the uniqueness of the vehicle and our location - in the country - people notice things out of place. A couple of people thought it might be stupid to do this, I don't have much to lose, the guy knows where we live, our schedule, etc.
I'll be installing a full yard light as well as motion sensors in the back of the house, may also have a few other surprises for him.
I just hope my experience can maybe help someone else down the road. The thing I've learned is be calm (easier said than done), call the cops, then take action if you need to. If I'd have done that there's a good chance we might have caught him right away.
Thank you all again for your help and advice, if I get any news I'll post.

A small inside dog will quickly learn to alert you(bark) at the slightest unusual sounds. They're much better than a large dog this way. For outside, consider guinea's, they are the best to sound the alarm of any animals. If you buy a large vicious dog with the intention of nailing the guy(as he should be) you may open your family to a lawsuit if someone is bitten or mauled.

I'll vouch for the guinea idea!!

I had a guinea 'rooster'... until he forgot who was the boss!!

My neighbor (right across the road) wouldn't even come across the road (with me there, of course), because of that bird... and Jon's a nice fella...

Good job Jeff, You needed help this time and you won't regret calling for it, hope the lawmen give it all they got and catch him, it's not worth getting in trouble trying to do it all by yourself, but check back with us if they run out of ideas!!!

Jeff,

I saw your story on channel 5 last night. Good luck, I hope the cops are able to catch this scumbag. Hopefully when they do he'll try to resist arrest.

Thanks for the updates...

Please keep us posted. And good luck in finding him.

I, too, find it disappointing that it took the "blackmail" of getting the media involved before law enforcement took it seriously, but at least they're there, now...

Steve

I have been following this with a lot of empathy for your family. I do hope like heck that somebody catches this freak and gets him away from the public.

However, I don't find it at all reassuring that there is now action from law enforcement. OH, now that the media knows about it, they decide that they can help. Before, you know it was just he brush off...vacation is more important...and the like.

This is not good service. The more I think about it, the more infuriating it becomes.

Infuriating, disappointing, sad. Like somebody said, squeaky wheel gets the grease, but it shouldn't be that way. It's also better that it's a news story now than later because of a tragedy.

I saw the news story, but I found that there was a lot more information on this site than on the news.

Good luck, I hope you catch him, people like this need to be caught before it escalates.

Nathan

Keep us updated. Hope your wife can take some ease from the police activity. I know you sad she was kind of freaking.

What about your daugter? Is she handling it OK? This kind of thing could really mess up a teenager.

I wish you luck in your man hunt.

Thanks for your thoughts and concern. Wife is still freaked out, embarrassed is probably the best word. Daughter and son don't really realize the seriousness of the matter.

Jeff, good luck and I hope they catch the guy. That must be scary having a family stalked like that. I would suggust you get a dog as others mentioned on the earlier post though. Keep us informed.
