I know this is a dumb question..... but, after having my Great-Bend loader off for several months for the first time, I am now having a terrible time getting the lines back on. The connectors used are "standard" quick-release types that have an outer sleeve that that is spring loaded that you can move forward or backwards a bit. Inside you can see a dozen or so ball-bearings that get retracted when you move the sleeve. I can get the connector in about 95% but it will always pop back out. I have tried all four lines with no luck. I made sure all mating parts are super clean. I moved the stick around to loose any residual pressure. What am I doing wrong??

There are disconnects that will connect and disconnect under pressure, but they are costly. To relieve pressure on mine when disconnected, I use a clean brass hammer and brass drift punch to tap on the shutoffs without damage to them.

I am guessing that with the heat pressure has built up in the disconnected lines. If you can press hard enough to relieve some of the pressure is all I think you need to do. Have you tried to leave the stick in the float position if it has one. Is the tractor running or shut off. You might need to loosen a hose fitting on the loader to relief pressure. These are things that I have done in the past one of them may work or none of them might work, they are just thoughts that you may or may not have tried good luck. Please let us know what it was when you get it fixed.

Tnx Sid, Thanks for the ideas....I just tried to push the tip of one of the lines in with all my might and I could not even budge it !!! I'm 275 pounds and it just laughed at me. I think I will have to try loosening up a line to one of the cylinders and see what happens.

BTW, I have a joy stick controller and have moved it every which way several times in hopes of equalizing any built-up pressure on the tractor side. Should I be able to move that inside connector point in more easilly? The fact that I can't is that a sign that the lines need to be bled a little first?
