Power block - JD70

I have a power block for a JD 70. If I bore the block to .250 over, the pistons for that bored block are 3/4" longer from the center of the wrist pin to the head of the piston than the pistons that are in the block now. Boring the block 3/4" deeper to accomodate the longer pistons means boring beyond the spark plug ports. Do I instead have to shorten the connecting rods if I want to keep the stroke the same? I'm new at this - thanks for your help

The pro's at this are on the Deere & pulling areas of the site. The gas 70 used a shorter block than the all-fuel 70 or the G.
