Does anyone know if the 10SI can be easily changed in the field to move the location of the plug connection from, say 3:00 to the 12:00 or even the 9:00 locations by simply rotating the rear housing section without complete disassembly?

Yes. Remove all four screws, and CAREFULLY pry the halves apart just enough to loosen them to allow rotation. The laminated stator, or middle section MUST rotate ALONG WITH the REAR section, and be free of the front (pulley end) as it turns. Pry sections apart only enough to free the front section from the middle section, AND NO MORE, or your brushes will drop off the sliprings, and be broken when the sections go back together.

You can take the alt. clear apart also. Take a piece of stiff wire and load the brushes with the spring tension on it before assembly. Once you get the housings together in the position that you want, simply pull the load wire out of the hole from the outside.-----deadeye
