My MF255 tank has so much rust, sediment and goop, it has clogged up everything. Cleaned injectors and lines, removed tank, rinsed w/ gas. If I put the tank back on it still has alot of the same sedimentary crap in it so I put 2lbs 10D nails, a chain and a master lock in it, strapped down to a pickup bed and gonna drive around for two weeks to scour the tank and then shake it out.

My neighbor said there is an epoxy like substance that you can pour in the tank and it will solidify around all the rust and sediment. Anyone know what this product is?

Thanks much all.

I shined up a gas tank with about the same stuff you are using. I bungee corded it to a rear tractor wheel and rotated it for a couple of hours. I changed position once to get at all sides. Has not rusted again in 2 years. If you have a fuel gauge sending unit I would remove it.

How did you find out the fuel guage sending unit needed to be removed?

The tank I shined did not have a gauge but if it had a sending unit I would remove it to keep it from getting damaged from falling objects.

I used a product called 'Kreme' for an three-wheeler that had a badly rusted tank. The tank leaked before treatment but has since held together very well. And I haven't had to clean any crud out of the in-line filter since treatment. It cost about $25 and I got it at a local motorcycle shop. It contains three solutions; first is a cleaning solution that removes any rust (works well). The second is an etching solution that preps the tank for the third solution - an epoxy that coats the entire inner surface.

Check the Articles section on the right hand side under Research & Info. I just read one about that. Yep just checked. It is at the bottom of the page under the heading Product Reviews and is titled "Kreem Brand Fuel Tank Liner"

Any auto parts store should be able to supply. Don't remember trade name of product, but does work well. Used by car rebuilders.
