Randy, The next time you're out there by the 600, grab ahold of the PTO shaft like a good strong hand shake, now push and pull on it. If it moves like 1/8th inch or more, you will probably have to pull the PTO shaft and inspect retainer clip and retainer clip groove (broken or out of place), the bearing for excessive wear. Now if you have a dickens of a time pulling that PTO shaft out of the rear end, you may very well have a twisted shaft. If so, you may be able to go in through the side plate, but more likely have to pull the top of the hydraulics off. Not fun. I'ld refer you to the Ford disscussion board archives, the collective knowledge of the group exceeds the capacity of this pumpkin.

Now,whether or not you exceed 1/8 inch of travel, you will want to check your mower to ensure it does not bind the PTO drive shaft while lifting and lowering, The PTO shaft does not like any amount of end thrust at all. Clean and lube the shaft liberally before hooking up any implement drive shaft or ORC. HTH ATW/WA
