This weekend I will be attempting to start a Case 730 LP that has been sitting for a few years. Are there any tricks that I should know about attempting to get it going?

Look and smell for leaks. You could have a leak around the regulator. Depending on how long it's been sitting the rubber diaphram inside tends to dry out.

Start and putter around on vapour. Heavy loads and cold weather require operation on Liquid.

When I fire up an old piece of equipment, I first squirt a little "Marvel Mystery Oil" in each spark plug hole. Don't overdo it though! This oils up the rings and cylinder walls. You may want to pull the coil wire and turn the engine over a little to build oil pressure (watch your gauge if it has one) Then put the propane to 'er. You can get Mystery Oil almost anywhere now, I know Wal-Mart carries it...Good Luck!
