as far as that goes, you won't find a 1946 sc case, none were made that year due to a labor dispute

Plate's on the dash, like the others have said, but its also stamped on the left (as you are sitting on the seat) engine flange where the engine & rear end bolt together. This is tough to find-gotta use a wire brush & scrape paint off-its stamped w/those individual # stamps, so may not be straight. It'll be something like 4809716, (which is on my '44 SC). To tell the year, subtract 4 from the first two #'s (48-4= a 44 model, for the above example) for all the V, VA, S,D & LA series made before '53. All the '53's & '54's that I've ever seen started w/80. Older C & R series & maybe L series used a different formula to determine year, but I don't remember what it is, check the Case board. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

I have an old fried who has a case tractor I believe the serial # is AC5353690. I think that this makes this a 1949 VAC case is this correct. The sheet metal and tractor are in nice shape. Needs paint but runs great. Tires are up but very weather checked. Any idea what its worth. Thanks for your help!!!!! !!!!! 1

Usually stamped on the flange where the engine and clutch housing mate, left side, about 2 o'clock.

Most old Cases had a plate on the instrument
panel with the serial number.
