I know this is not really tractor related, but this is where all the experts are, right!!?? I was wondering what is the proper direction for a grain shock to sit. I have been told it should sit east/west to let the wind blow through them. I have also been told it should sit north/south to let the sun hit both sides. Is there any truth behind these thoughts? Thanks for any help. Andy

Ein, zwei, drei, fir, lift your stien and trink your bier. Ours followed the rows, sometimes that was ne to sw and sometimes other directions.

It makes sense to face shock No. and So. but we never did unless by accident. I checked Amish fields today and theirs just followed the rows. 7 bundles to a shock encludes a cap.

Us old Germans always set them north and south. So the sun would hit on both sides. This comes from the old days yet. Number in a shock wasn't that important as I remember, course we always counted in German..

My Dad always said six bundles to a shock setting North and south
