I am looking to buy a 350 JD crawler with a 6 way blade and winch and a fellow has a 1010 JD
diesel with 6 way and winch. What are the major differences between the two and is a 1010 a good crawler? Any advise would be appreciared as this machine is 1000 miles away so I can't just go look.

I'd take the JD350 over the 1010 diesel. The 1010 diesel has the infamous "sleeve-and-deck" cylinder configuration which had problems due to vibration-related sealing failure between the cylinders and water jacket, and this caused more frequent repairs and overhauls to be required. (even Deere admits this) and they are harder to find parts for. The gassers were supposedly better. just my $0.02

Depends on it's job. The small size of my 'ol 350 diesel make it a 'lil monster in the woods, moves a full blade of dirt ez & pushes these fir & alder trees right over, only need to "work" the bigger rootballs off of 16" trunks and better. A Garwood winch completes the package. With adjustments per schedule, my dry clutchs have lasted longer than the hour meter; the later C & D models have the better wets. Don't ask the machine to do more than it was designed to, take your time dozing when need be, and you'll never look back.

ask this question on the crawler forum, and you'll get some good answers. I'll bet you no one would trade there JD 350 for a JD 1010 and guess how many would trade their 1010 for a 350??? I ran a 1010 for over a week, and to be blunt in my book it was an under powered POS.

I also was looking for a JD 350 but i ran on to a nice Case 450 and i'm sure glad i didn't get the deere. The Case is a much better design, and doesn't have all the clutch problems the older deere crawlers have when you let them set for a month or so. All those older deeres have dry clutches.
