I once met a guy in a coffee shop and his excuse for leaving was that he had to get home and start painting the house.
On a return trip a couple of days later I asked him if he got the house painted and he said...nope...too windy.
Another trip a couple days later...I asked him again if he got the house painted...nope...too rainy.
A few days later when it was a calm, nice sun shiny day...there he was again...so...I asked him again if he got the house painted...nope...too perfect.

You got my permission to use this one in your hay baling.

Beer.

I ran out, I've had too much, I want to drink some in the shade..... ..... .... A wealth of possibilities.

All in good jest of course, I am a firm believer that alcohol mixes poorly with gas (and diesel), gunpowder, and water.

Mine real answer this year is my _____ _____ __ is broke down; you name it, I've had to work on it this year.

As the great husband that I am, I'll not mow hay today for my wifes sake. My baler is JUNK. It'll break down, and I'll be in a bad mood becouse of that. Just to spare her the agony, I'll just let it grow. (Got a new baler on the way!)

the only excuse i use is that i have too much down already. you get get hay up if you don't cut it and i would hate to get caught in a good spell of weather without hay down. right now i have a couple hundred acres of straw to bale.

I don't know if this one counts. "I am not going to mow 'hay' because the weather looks so unsettled I am going to make it into big-bale silage instead".
