There is a place in Mason City, Iowa that makes new ones for Molines. I think they make other brands also. Someone else will have to help you with the name of the place. I don't know what it is.---deadeye

If you can verify the original serial number, you can get one from John Deere. Tell your dealer that you want to speak with his area block man about one. They do not look original, and have a bar code, but they are JOHN DEERE. As far as I know, John Deere blank serial number plates are not available, like the kind you can get for a Farmall.

To get a "new" JD serial number plate, you need to contact your dealer with the serial number. He will then fill out a form and send it to his AMPS (Area Manager Product Support) who will then request a Duplicate plate from the factory. Here on the Construction and Forestry side of JD a Deere person must do the actual installation of the plate. This helps prevent theft by re serial numbering a stolen unit.
I just did this procedure for an old 420C two cylinder crawler in Springfield IL.
Your plate will look "modern" not old.
