WHEN I TRY TO BALE IT RAKES THE HAY THROUGH THE TWO LARGE ROLLERS AND THROWS IT IN THE BELT AREA WHERE IT SHOULD START ROLLING INTO A BALE HOWEVER THEIT IS A METAL ROLLER THAT SETS ON TOP OF THESE TWO LARGE ROLLERS AND THE HAY FOLLOWS AROUND THAT ROLLER AND JAMS UP BETWEEN THEN IT BUILDS UP BETWEEN A BLADE THAT GUIDE THE BELTS AND THE LARGE ROLLER. I CHECKED CLEARENCE ON ONE SIDE OF THE BALER BETWEEN THE BAR IT REALLY LOOKS LIKE A BLADE AND IT WAS A HALF CLEARENCE WHEEN I CHECKED THE OTHER SIDE I COULD PULL IT A GOOD INCH AND A HALF AWAW FROM THE ROLLER I HAVE THAT CORRECTED NOW WITH A HALF INCH CLEARENCE DOES THIS BLADE NEED TO SHARPENED. BECAUSE OF THE RAIN WE HAV'NT TRIED THE BALER SINCE THESE CHANGES ANY ADVICE OUT THERETHANK YOU (KEN)

The rubber compresion roller needs to sit on top of the steel roller below it. There should be no gap. The roller it seems to me that the hay is wrapping around is the lower drive. You are correct that there is a scraper for this roller. It should be just off the roller. If hay is wrapping around this roller then your hay is probably to wet. It sounds like you have either a Vermeer 605 C or D model baler. For these balers the hay needs to be just right or it will wrap. This baler is probably 20 to 25 years old.
If I can be of any more help let me know.

You have a Vermeer baler 600? Is there a letter behind the number?

Sounds like you might have an old one, with the closed throat design - they do not like damp hay at all from what I hear.

I have a 605F Vermeer.

Hi Paul,

I have been searching for info on the Vermeer 605F Round Baler and saw your email response. I just bought a 605F round baler with manual and would like information on hydrolic pressure settings for different types of hay (grass, grass-alfalfa, and alfalfa). Unfortunately the manual just says to "set at desired setting". I would like a base or range to start with concerning the different types of forage. I thought that this might help me the first time out in the field. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug
