I am considering buying a Mahindra tractor. Looks like the authorized service center is a long way off. Any comments on the performance of the Mahindra tractor. I am looking at the model 4500.

I have a model 3505DI. Ihave had it a little over 1 year and have 235 hrs on the meter. I have been useing it to clean up my 50 acres that was badly overgrown with Tallow and 1/2 finished projects. Haven't seen anything that slows it down except muddy ground. It is heavy. I think it is the best thing I have ever bought with te exception of my DR mower.

I just want to know about the quality of the Mahindra tractors? Can I depend on them to last with good service? What are some weak parts on the tractor that I need to watch out for? I am just going to bush hog and use a finish mower on good ground. The tractor that I am looking at is the 2810 hst. I can't make up my mind if I want a tractor that noone knows anything about

We recently bought one of the C35's. Very nice tractor and very rugged. We have 17 acres and it does everything we need it to do. I wouldn't worry much about how close an authorized service center is. There really isn't much to service and major service is few and far between. I bought my in San Antonio although we live in Austin. A two hour drive to take the tractor to the dealer. But I don't mind one bit.

I too was going to buy the Mahindra 4500 or the 3500 in 4 wheel drive. I had researched many different manufacturers in that size and visited 2 Mahindra dealers in the area. They are really good tractors and heavy duty. I thought some went through final assembly in Doraville, GA as well as Texas. They are all made in India previously as M&M. M&M did a JV with International and these are the offspring. Go to>Link

I didn't buy one because I ran across an old Allis Chalmers 2 wheel drive that was too good to pass up at a fraction of the costs.

Here are some prices I collected:
Less than 35HP
make Hrs Implim's Price Notes
Mahindra 2810 0 $11500 4WD
Mahindra 2810 0 Fnt Load $14050 4WD

35HP
Mahindra 3510 0 $12900 4WD
Mahindra 3510 0 Fnt Load $15800 4WD
MahindraE350-DI 0 $? 2WD
Mahindra3505-DI 0 $? 2WD
MahindraE350-DI 12 $?

Over 35 HP
Mahindra 4500 245 Fnt Load $? 4WD
Mahindra5005-DI 144 $?

Louie, I have a 4500 4WD Mahindra and I love it. with the 4WD version you get a shuttle shift and independant PTO, with the 2WD model you get a live pto and the regular high/low range with reverse and four forward gears. Check out tractorbynet, there is a very active Mahindra discussion forum there. How far is your nearest dealer? The company's USA HQ is in Tomball, TX.

I've got a ca. 1960 International B-275 that was built by Mahindra. International used the "B" to designate "British" although the tractor is really Indian. There was also a B-250, B-414, etc. Mahindra is an old and well established tractor company and my tractor is very well built. One of the new Mahindra two-wheel drive tractors that is offered now is supposed to be 85% original to mine. The engines are completely new, and powersteering has be added.

Mahindra began a joint venture with International Harvester in 1963 and this venture ended in 1978. They designed and built IH's B-275 and Mahindra still makes that tractor today but it is strictly for the Indian market. Mahindra would have been here in the states long before 1994 but they had a no-competition agreement with IH until Case bought IH out and when that took place it opened the door for Mahindra & Mahindra to establish Mahindra USA. They have a wopping 97% overall customer satisfaction rating, the highest in the industry. Mahindra's tractors are basically built off that particular design. I know the E350-DI, 75% of the parts especially in the rear end are interchangeable with International parts. Mahindra is the world's 3 largest tractor manufacturer and their goal is to be number 1 by the year 2005 and they are well on their way. Mahindra exports tractors to 10 countries world wide that encludes the United States. They are one of the largest companies in India and the number 1 tractor manufacturer of India. However, they do not just build tractors they assembled the Willies Jeep during WWII, they are in infrastructure, finance, software and logistics, they are a major car manufacturer, and they even make tractor parts; they have even had a joint venture with Ford. Please visit their website at www.mahindrausa.com and read about their history and also visit their mother company at www.mahindra.com

I believe a lot of the B 250 tractors were built in Bradford England, in the old Jowett car factory

I have a us made 414. According to my manuals the british made ones have Lucas electronics on them. Sounds British to me. All I have read says they were made in Britian.
Although Mahindra made some almost identical units in India under IH license.

The Arjun or "00" series is an all new design from Mahindra. They are built in India using a Carraro tranny and rear end. The engine was designed with the help of AVL of Austria.

The MF based ones from India are the T.A.F.E tractors.

Also, not totally sure on this, but I think those models are build under an IH license and are almost identical to many IH tractors. ie IH444.

My understanding is that the tractor is made in India based on a Massey Ferguson design.

They are built in India and back in the 60s they where based on the then current IH lines. I am sure in 30+ years they have evolved some. It is my understanding Mahindra is the largest tractor manufacture (in number of tractors) in the world. They must be doing something right.

The MF line built in India are Tafe. The 4 wheel drive Mahindra are built in Korea. They also build similar tractors for Long.
