I work for a hay farmer and i saw a burned up 4010 sitting outside. I asked him about it and told me that it had a new engine put in 2 months before it was parked in a barn that got struck by lightning and caught on fire. It didnt look like it got burnt too bad. THe gauges are still intact, although the glass shattered, the paint is still on the engine, but burnt off the hood and such. It also sat for 7 years since the fire and hasnt been fiddled with since. I wanted to try and fix it up and see if i could get er running again. It has the 3 cylinder diesel, and all the wiring, injector pump, and hoses seem to be intact. The radiator is a bit mangled up and the gas tank got beat up, but other than that, i think she might be salvageable. I need to know if you guys think it is salvageable, and if so, what should i keep an eye out for. I know it is hard to guess but ill try to post pictures as soon as possible. Thanks a lot.

yeah, its a 3 cyl. I figured that it could be salvaged since its mostly mechanical, there really isnt much electrical that could get burned up bad. I know i had to get a field done with my 2940 and the starter was off the tractor, and even with the alternator disconnected and the key off, i bump started her and ran her for the whole day without a problem.

Are you sure it's a 3 cylinder ??? all the 4010 I have seen have been 6 cylinders.

If it got burned, then sat in the elements for 7 years, it's probably not worth a second glance.

3 cylinder 4010? Must be a late model? Sounds like it could be salvaged. Probably would be worth more to part it out with a lot less headache.
