Carl,

You may have what you need, but there is a great web site for Ford PSD

www.freeautoadvice.com

go to bulletin boards, Powerstroke Only. There are guys on there that know about everything one could know about 7.3 PSDs Good Luck.

In response to your question I think I may be able to help you out with your problems if you send me your e mail address. I work on those engines a lot and I had some schooling on them. I would be really inerested in your question and hopefully I can help yuo out. I also own one myself and have done a lot of work on it.

Hey guys, my apologies about the earlier post, was just having a bad time and needed to vent alittle. This is what the deal is I was in need of truck big time about 2 years ago, a friend of mine had a 85 1/2 ton 4x4 that he let me have for a thousand. After putting a fuel pump on in and rebuilding the carb. I was finally able to start it and get it home. It has been a constant source of irritation and I do know its just in need of some more work. But as soon as I possibly can I'm getting back to my good luck brand, GMC or Chevy. I have had more trouble with this one Ford than I have had with all the GM products I have had. Just different strokes for different folks. Sorry about any ruffled feathers.

From my experience with them you spelled out the problem in the first word of you subject
Found On Road Dead. I will never own another one of these pieces of junk!

That phrase is so old it died in the cornfield.
What would you suggest, a Cummins powered Dodge
with a slushbox blowout from engine torque? An
auction a hundred miles away is not practical to
attend on a 3020. My 7.3 has been reliable, I
have not been swayed by someone's"new rig", to
change brands yet. No harm in looking, but I'm
not stuck in the garage, or hitching rides on the
highway. A more pressing question remains, what is
a New Holland tractor?

Can't complain about my 7.3 either. Have 130,000 miles on it and have only replaced an idler and some glowplugs. That is outside of regular oilchange and filters.

I did however go and get a friends 97 turbo 7.3 that he bought used and hauled it to the Ford place when it would barely start and pull it self. I hauled it in behind my 78 chev heinz 57.

Wished I took a picture of it.

I'm not here to start some kinda debate with Jiffy but I will stand up for the folks on ford-diesel.com Perhaps Jiffy has had some bad experiences or whatever, but there are a ton of people on F-D.com that are willing to help and willing to answer your questions. Many of the little problems I've run across here and there are things others have had happen as well. Yes, there are some folks who experiment with extreme performance -- you ask me, that's their business. I think it's pretty neat they are willing to try things then share their results with the rest of us so we can all learn. As for Ford requesting removal of their name from the web site, there have been multiple discussions as to why this is happening. This is not because Ford has some major problem with what people on the site are doing. In fact, there was a Ford diesel rally in NY last week; Ford and International both sent representatives, engineers, and PR people, as well as 3 new 2003.25 6.0 liter powerstroke trucks and a cut-away egine. They offered technical seminars and discussion groups all weekend. They paid for the barbeque at the rally. All in all, with people, sponsorship, door prizes, and brining in the trucks, Ford and International spent several thousand dollars to support the folks brought to the rally by Ford-Diesel.com

So to anyone looking for advice on Ford diesels, take a look at the site. If you like what you see, there's a lot of valuable information and helpful people there for you. If you're not pleased by what's there, don't use it.

I am having trouble with my ford f-250 7.3 liter disel truck. i can get in it and crank it and maybe even go down the rode if im lucky. It has started dieing on me and dont know the reason why. I just replace the fuel filter thinking that would help and it didn't. When it dies it dosent spit or sputter or nothin, it just shuts off as if you turned off the key. Sometimes it will crank back up and you can go aways further and sometimes it wont crank back up. It appers to me that it is gettin worse. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I would be extremely leery of obtaining any usefull information from that website. Most of the posters are either wanna bee truck drivers, dreamers, or those who have modified their vehicles, and then are mad because Ford will not honor the warranty and pay for the damage caused by such modifications. In fact, Ford Motor Company has demanded that those responsible for managing this website remove the word Ford from the domain name. However, it is full of great laughs to see how stupid some people are when it comes to tinkering with something beyond their comprehension.
