I own and have restored a Rock Island G-2. I was told by the gentleman that I bought it from that it is a 1930. I'm not sure how many models they made but they did make a F, F-A, G,and a G-2, the G-2 was the smallest and also the last tractor that John Heider designed for Rock Island before J.I. Case bought them out in 1937.
If anyone has any serial # info. on these tractors, please let me know. the # on mine is
100085.

The Hieder was a very innovative tractor that utilized paper, coneshaped pulleys(friction drive) running at right angles in place of a sliding gear transmission for speed and direction changes. They were offered from about 1913 to 1927 or so when they went to a gear drive system. They had an almost infinite speed range.
They weren't too cool for heavy drawbar work, but I'll bet they were just dandy for pulling early drag style combines.
I wouldn't mind having one.

Heider Rock Island tractors are indeed valuable and collectible. They often find their way into the hands of Case enthusiasts, as they were eventually bought out or merged with Case. The few that I've seen seem to come from the 1920s mostly. Not sure about much more, but they are found in the various antique tractor literature that is available. Certainly, they are not a dime a dozen. Don't know how many were manufactured, but there are not many left.

Dad had a "HEIDER Auger Wagon"... in fact many in our neighborhood had them... Red & galvanized steel... Unit was made in the late 50's or very early 60's... We farmed about 20-25 miles from Rock Island, IL. J.I.Case had a small plant just west of the IHC Farmall plant.... They made small 4-cyl. engines and the small utility tractors there I believe.... Must have been the old Heider plant.

Heider was from Carroll Iowa, at least the Heider that made the farm wagons & running gear, also made auger feed carts, and wooden ladders, I used to go to it and pick up new wagons complete with dealer truck in the 60s, factory right along the C & NW RR main line on the south side opposite of the depot, dont know whats in it now, Heider long gone.
