Hi Gang;
A contractor (custom operator) gave me these prices he charges:-
Big Round bales $2.90 per bale
Big Square bales 8 foot long $4.20 per bale
Wrapping extra cost.
Small square bales $0.50 per bale
Hay & Haylage selling at $175 to $220 per ton
Ryegrass yielding 3-4 tons per acre.
Old meadow grass 1.5 tons per acre.
Hardly any small square baling done now.
The crops have all gone into seed now and quality deteriorated dramatically after the rain over the past 10 days.
Cheers David

Hi Gang;
Those prices are just for baling - NOT any mowing, tedding, swathing,wrapping or carting.
David

David, there is no way around here that you get anyone to bale a large round bale for $2.90. Operating costs must be much less there. Tom

David,

I assume these prices are strictly for baling, and not for cutting and raking? Seems low to me if it's for the entire job... especially on the old meadow grass. That wouldn't pay the fuel to cover the acres here with all the gear.

Rod

It cost me $15 for 5x5 round bales north central Alabama. Cut, rake, bale me pick up in field.

David, something must be wrong with you figures. $2.90 for round, $.50 for square. Aroung here to cut, rake, bale, leave in field is $18 to $20 round, $1.00 to $1.25 small square. Tom

Yeah, but you don't want to know what they charge for mileage if David in Wales is getting quotes in dollars
