for the owners of these Forums to finally give up and switch to current Forum software that actually works.

WHAT a mess today, between double posts and broken threads with posts splattered all over!

Heck, with any luck Kim and Chris might even get a weekend off once in a while if the site worked!

I use modern view. This forum works just fine for me. There are a couple things that have issues, but it's not really a big deal. No complaints here.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeThere are settings for how your post are laid out, what ever your preference. For me Modern is much more organized. Hot topics stay at the top till they play out on there own. If I ask a question I like to read all the post, even the responses that don't have much to do with the topic. Someone may have a point of view that helps you figure things out. Granted there are a few folks that have earned the right to be skipped.

The problem I have is my own communication skills. Top that off with others lack of reading comprehension and you have a conversation that wanders. At times folks don't respect others point of view and will attempt to force there own ideas. Very simple questions go unanswered and these forums get too frustrating to use.

If anyone asks me, I'd dump Classic view like a hot rock. Best thing I ever did was go to Modern view. Much, much easier to use IMO.

Muleboss, I see a lot of opinions being voiced in this thread just as we do here day in and day out, but I don't see that anyone is claiming that it is their decision :?

My point is I do not care one way or another what we use. It is not our decision. Just live with what we get or start your own site.

OK, I tried it. I gave it a fair try for a couple of weeks.
I DON'T LIKE MODERN VIEW!!
OK? If others prefer it, so be it. I found it top be uncomfortable and difficult to navigate. I LIKE classic view. You use what you like and I will use what I like.

'Nuff said!

Is your reading comprehension that bad, or are you making things up? It would appear the only ones crying about wanting things their way are the classic users. I could care less, it works fine for me. The site owners should do it for THEM. It would save them a ton of head aches. Heaven forbid some of you have to try something different.

What I see there are a lot of people just like the people you complain about.
This site cost you nothing , But you want to change it and have it your way.
Just be thankful that we have what we have and live with it. LIFE IS NOT ALL ABOUT YOU

I don know what surprises me more. That there are people that actually think classic view is easier, or that this site still uses this antiquated, crappy software to appease these people. Once they finally update to normal forum software, they are going to wish they had done it years ago.

Back in the day, somebody said the problems with rubber tires on tractors would go away too.

If they just stayed with steel tires.

Some day, the owners of Yesterdays Tractors, the profit generating side that provides a paycheck to Kim and Chris are going to wave the red flag.

Hopefully at that time the owners of this site will be gracious enough to launch a truely up to date forum format using readily available, already tweeked software from a forum software company

Saving countless hours and $$ required to constantly "fix" both classic and modern view forums we have here now. And thus allowing Chris and Kim to sell tractor parts instead.

You will notice that these two forums at YT contain no advertising sidebars. YT does not even show the things they sell on these forums, unlike all other similar forums.

That will likely change here also with up to date software.

The tiny differences really have nothing to do with the debate between classic and modern. What self respecting old f#hrt in his right mind would advocate for replacing ANYTHING old with something modern no matter how much better it may work?

No dog is too old to learn new tricks.

You people need to get out more. If you'd broaden your horizons a bit and visit other forums beside this one you'd see how a properly set up modern forum is supposed to work, as that's all anyone else uses anymore. The reason this one is so cobbled up is they're trying to make the two formats run simultaneously, which is not going to happen. That's been explained on here numerous times. Chris goes through it on the Site Comments forum every other week. But I guess if you choose to ignore that it's up to you.

As for me, I'd be happy if they changed it over this afternoon! It can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned!

The posts are in perfect order. The ones with the most recent replies are on top. This is how every other forum site on the Internet works.

In classic view if someone replies to a thread that was started three days ago, you have to sift down through 7 pages of posts to find out, and read the reply. They are kept in the order that the original post was made.

The disadvantage to modern is a controversial thread will tend to linger on top and go on much longer because it's right there on top where everyone can see it, while on classic it gets quickly pushed back to page 12 and nobody has the ambition to go find it.

As I have said MANY times, keeping the two in sync is quite the programming feat, as the classic forum software is ANCIENT. They do get out of sync once in a while, but it seems like the admins know how to fix it.
