I would like to know the lubration schedules and grades/types. Is the dip stick about 3 inches located along side the stick shift to measure hydrolic fluid in the rear end? By the way, the rear end does use hydrolic fluid doesn't it? With fill point located under the seat, anyway that's what the fluid looks like. Only had it a short time. Works great! Got from little old lady who only drove it on Sundays! Where do you get parts/manuals in Southern Oregon?

I own a 1986 Bolens (Iseki)G214 which is probably similar. It's 21 hp, 3 cyl, diesel, 4 wheel drive with a back hoe and FEL. I've 1100 hrs on it. It is a well thought out machine and built with quality. It has the easiest starting, smooothest diesel motor I've ever owned. There is a 540 & 1000 rear PTO, 6 forward 2 reverse with a high and low range (12 & 4) I have a kit for a live PTO off the front of the engine I never installed ( I leave the FEL on). Fortunately, my unit is exactly the same as a White Field Boss 21 and parts are available through AGCO. The current MF 12xx series are Isekis. Bolens was taken over by Troy-Built ~ 13 years ago, they became Garden Way that just was acquired by MTD so I'm unsure of parts availability with them. I had to buy a water pump from them ~ 1996 at $235 and felt I was GOUGED. I should have sent it out for rebuilding. Also the boot around around the gear shift lever and a big rubber gasket where the shift linkage enters the tranny deterioted and water got in the transmission. I got parts through AGCO for that. I've done alot of work with this set up. The FEL was built for Bolens in Fort Erie Ontario and is bullet proof. It has a heavy- duty bucket with a rounded back that is perfect for back grading. The back-hoe is Bolen badged and also has never given me a problem. I have the parts and owner's manuels. Isekis IMHO are quality machines, the Bolens attachments I have are well built. I'd be worried about MTD supporting parts but could be wrong.Len Sheafer in Rockford IL. as in above post is a good resource.

By the way my transmission/diferential dip stick sounds like yours. To drain the Tran/diff case there are 3 drains, one in the middle of the transmissiom and 2 where the axles join the differential(on the medial axle) On my unit the L drain plug is frozen and I haven't pushed it. The manuel says 80 SAE for the tran/diff but if there is a hydraulic pump in there( I assume it does since it has a FEL) it takes hydraulic- transmission fluid like any modern tractor. I recall my tran/diff case took ~ 4+ gal. On mine there is a fine meshed screen in the FEL return hose that is the low point and should be cleaned if you change the fluid. When I got H2O in my system this froze rendering me FEL inoperative.
