I have to pull out on the choke to keep my tractor running. Any suggestions?

Need more info to be able to help you much since not all carbs are the same. Heres a couple things to try. First pull the drain plug out of the bottom of the carb if it has one. Then catch the gas coming out of it for at least 5 minutes you need to have a good steady flow of gas. If you don't then pull the fuel line at the carb and recheck, again you need a good steady flow. If you have gas come out the drain plug in a good steady flow then you have some thing clogged in the carb. Now if you don't have a good steady flow at both places then you have a clogged fuel line and or a problem with the sediment bowl or tank

I had a similar problem on my IH 2400A. It wouldn't run without the choke being pulled out about 3/4 way. The problem seems to be solved now.

What I did was pull the carburetor and thoroughly check everything. Two things could have been a problem. This is a Marvel-Schlabler carb. The ventura tube may not have been seated right. But the gasket holding the carburetor to the manifold looked suspect. I made a new gasket and used a file to be sure the surface was flat and clean on both the carb and manifold. Problem solved.

In short if you have to use the choke, you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

The advice given to you could be much more specific if we knew the make and model of the tractor.

Yup, your carb needs cleaning. You aren't getting enough fuel. Simple problem..pain in the butt.

Had the same problem on a JD 2010 and it turned out the switch was bad.

Sorry. it was the ignition switch. The bad switch also burned out the points quite often. Took a while to catch because I didn't use the tractor often.
