Was just given a 029 super that was run on the wrong gas mix. The piston and rings are scorn but it still pulls over. I have found cyl assembly for a 029 but not a super. This will be my first tear down of a saw anything to look for? I think it will be a nice addition to my ms391 and dolmar 112.

Bought a couple of cylinder kits from HLS pro parts out of florida. Have had good luck with them.

Part: piston with rings, wrist pin, clips Replaces Part # 1127 030 2003 Condition: new, after-market Fits: Stihl 029 super, MS290 (46mm bore)
A quick search at chainsawr.com provided this.

just don't put more in parts in it than worth ,there always reason for the given to me free items. I n shop here usually could bought another new unit for time and material to fix the free unit.good luck and just call any stihl dealer for parts,or your local JD dealer. I could get the parts if you would like, but sure you could get closer.

I went throught the same thing with a super028. I think the regular is a smaller bore than a super. I bought my parts from my local dealer. Many on ebay. Stihls hiold value- as saws and as parts.
