Hello,
I have recently purchased a McCormick Deering W30 Tractor. (possibly 1937)
The tractor was resored a good number of years ago (possibly 20+ years ago), and then Put in a museum, My difficullty is that it has no tractor nameplate on the fuel tank support. (just evidence of where the nameplate used to be). The information I can find, is that the engine has serial no XC19899 stamped on the intake/exhaust side of the engine. I would like to fit a new nameplate to the tractor. Is it possible to track down what the serial number should be? would the engine number and tractor serial numbers be the same? Are there any other numbers that I could locate ie. casting numbers etc, that would help? Basically any help you can give would be appreciated.
Thanks Nigel

You should get your engine number and buy a tag like this one from Rice Equipment and get your number stamped on the tag.

If that is the engine that was in the tractor new, that would be the correct number, if there is no tag, just assume the engine number is the correct number. I'm not sure, but i think you could get a new tag.
