I need to pick up the Farmall 400 in Topeka and need a trailer to take it about 225 miles to near Phillipsburg KS. Anyone in the area I might rent from or advice on where to go to rent one?
Thanks!

Well, I have good news! I found a place to rent a trailer from a construction rental company not too far away. I got the name from the local U-Haul dealer no less! Saves me about 250 bucks! Thanks for all the advice..

Dan,

U-Haul won't rent you a trailer for transport of a tractor. They will for a car. Let your lips be silent....

A 400 shouldnt weigh much over 7000 lbs so a 10,000 lb bumper hitch trailer with a 3/4 ton PU should handle it..Just take your time and take the lesser traveled hiways.Does U-Haul have any trailers that heavy?

The tractor weighs 6500 lbs. I tried to call U-Haul today but ran out of time. I am going to try to call them again tomorrow. No luck on the websites though. I have my 1 ton dually to pull the trailer, just need to FIND the trailer. I was hoping an equipment/ag place might have one. I hope something comes up. I would like to get it asap. Snowing in WY tonight. Wish I was in kansas!

A Farmall 400 is a pretty good sized tractor. Not just any trailer will handle it, nor will just any pick-up truck handle it. It will take a minimum of a 3/4 ton truck, and a deck-over type of trailer with a capacity of at least 14,000 pounds. You might be able to find car hauling type of trailer that does have the weight capacity needed, but the 400 will not fit in between the fenders on that trailer. Your best option is to place a free ad in the hauling schedule and hire someone to haul the 400.
