here is another use for my gooseneck, I was going to my woodlot to cut firewood,I went to hook up to my dump trailer,, oops it had 2 flats.{one had a slow leak, and the other I found out had a hole in the rim!!} I had a few guys meeting me at the lot,, so me and my son threw this together in 20 minutes,,

Goosenecks are more stable because they are mounted on top of the axle instead of many feet behind it on a hitch. Makes a big difference. Goosenecks are preferred for larger loads for that reason. Each truck has to be evaluated for it's limitations. But any gooseneck will have better stability than a rear hitch trailer.

Looks like quite a load of hardwood! Wish I had a gooseneck flatdeck of my own. How does the shortbox tow with load - tail wagging the dog a bit?

I never had a problem with the way it handles, and I have put alot of miles on it with various loads,,

this is pushing the envelope, proabably wont do it again,, it was only a 4 mile haul,, but I knew it was there ,, my trucking experience said this is limited out,, third party image

Jason, I have pretty much the same set up 05 F350 Crew Cab with 6.5' box and a 20' gooseneck with a 5' tail. Regularly haul two 4k - 4.5k tractors on it. Seems to pull and handle it fine.
