sorry there are some sour grapes giving you a hard time. i for one like reading the information you post. always good to hear stuff from somebody in the know. being a man in blue and a farmer ta boot, i figure you'd get a kick out of this. last spring i stopped at the secret farmer restaurant for coffee before daybreak, before heading over to the other place. left there right after sun up. headed west over the overpass over interstate 55. (couple hours south of chicago) well, on top of the overpass is this guy sitting on some kind of box, hunched over leaning against the railing. it was chilly out and he had an old coat kinda pulled up tight around him. he looked kinda out of sorts. so i pull up and stop, roll my window down and ask him "you need some help? maybe some food or a cup of coffee?" the guy looks at me, smiles and starts laughing. me not being the sharpest tool in the shed, took a few minutes to figure out what was so funny. he's a state trooper sitting there with a radar gun catching speeders heading north on the interstate. i look out the other window and see 3-4 squad cars sitting on the northbound ramp. opps i says to him, i thought you were a homeless guy. we had a good laugh over it, he says he's gonna tell his boss that he needs a raise to get new clothes cause people think he's homeless. i see him every now and then on the highway, he still remembers my pickup and always waves!!!

Here is the last thing I saw while standing near a bridge. They are not the best place to run traffic. This was 2 semi rigs obviously fully involved. The first truck was off the right side of the road parked and sleeping. The second truck driver fell asleep and crashed into the rear of the parked unit. As you can imagine, the entire mess burst into flames when the fuel tanks split apart. One had 23,000 pounds of carpet and the other 32,000 pounds of paper. At 4 a.m. you could see the glow and smoke in the air for 17 miles. After all was said and done, the driver who fell asleep had only second degree burns to the left arm. The driver who was on the side of the road, walked away with no injuries. I really expected to see something less desireable when I arrived. If this would have been farm equipment, it would have been ugly in respect to steel moving and tie downs failing. The "dead weight" in the back kept the momentium moving forward. Needless to say, I don't do anything on a bridge if I can help it. The tall part of the fire is the trailer of the parked truck. The rest of it is a debris field about 1/4 mile long and in flames. The lead truck was melted to the pavement. I have alot more photos, they are quite impressive, but I wouldn't want anyone to experience what these guys did. They were darn lucky.

Hey dave diehl.......another story for ya... in reply to davediehl@hotmail.com, 10-28-2007 10:26:35
After I got my DOT number, the DOT officer came to my house to interview me and approve the DOT number. He printed up a bunch of forms for me to fill out and keep. There were forms the employer fills out... me, and there were forms the employee fills out... me. He approved me for driving, but told me if I go over the hourly limit I have to chew myself out. I've been waiting, and practicing, but I can't sit long enough to get anywhere near 10 hours.
