Did any deep thought go into this 1001 state line law?

I think not.

I was raised on a farm that lays in three states. A road divides the farm with the state line being down the center. It is a narrow road and it is very hard to drive without driving in two stated at the same time. When you pull out of the drive and head north you will be driving in Ohio and Indiana. 300 yards north you will be driving in Michigan and Indiana.

The road skips and misses but runs south down the Ohio Indiana line.

You probably missed the little store in York that was on the North East corner and the nice people that ran it.
You would have been one mile West and less than a mile South of where the picture was taken.

No hassle. The house is in Ohio and that is the who collects State income taxes. For property tax's you just wright three checks for the amount on the three different statements and send them to the address on the statement. The biggest hassle was that all the time I was growing up we had a Fremont Indiana address with an Ohio residents.
Dad sold the Indiana portion in 1993 because it was not accepted in the ten year program.

Apperantly not much thought has been given to a lot of laws. Things could be simplified if they would. Same skills test for everybody. If you want to drive a vehechile over a certain size everybody same skills test wether it is a mobile home or a for hire truck. If you want to pull a trailer you take a test with a trailer wether it is your private use or not you take the test to drive it.

I am sure there wasn't much thought out about that. I wonder if there isn't a land use law or homestead law that talks about state lines being on private property or border being on an adjacent road? Very interesting situation. I bet Fawteen would have something to say on the subject.
