Walmart RV report

Hi,

Got back from Walmart. Saw a Freightliner with a stretched wheelbase and 45' trailer there. The tractor had 2 slide out room extensions like you see on the RV's and was about 25-30' long with RV plates. No DOT number. The trailer was HUGE. It was also plastered with "Bruce Racing" and all sorts of racing graphics. The trailer did not have any noticable camper like features. I bet it could haul 2 race cars and enough engines/transmissions and parts to rebuild both.

So, what's the deal? This was an obvious racing enterprise but no DOT nothing. It was from out of state....

Though I don't know what state you are referring to, a simple search shows me of a motorcycle racing unit with 3 registered drivers in NH. They have a US DOT number which should be somewhere on the truck. Regardless of the plate, its still required to be registered.

I thought it was Illinois plates, but can't be positive. Maybe they had a magnetic sticker with the information and pulled it?

The Bruce Racing Dave found is most likely not the Bruce racing you saw. He can only search people that have a DOT # on that site.

Its a loop hole that is hard to close since the RV manufactures have a loud voice where it counts. Anything with a RV tag does not need a DOT#.

It was never meant for business to use this loop hole and race cars/bikes is a business. Next thing you know Schneider and Swift are going to be applying for RV tags for their trucks because they have a bed. Add a toilet which some big trucks have now and it could be considered a RV.

Ha Ha!

The rig I saw wasn't just a cab over. It probably was a 2 bedroom / diningroom spacious rig. My guess is that the truck and trailer was 4-500K or more. I mean, how much is a nearly new stretched Freightliner converted into a top line RV?

I did my own googling search. This is the rig I saw. Link
