Is anyone having the problem of 454 motor being hard starting after it is hot. It only does it when its hot and I have to crank and Crank and finally it will start and puff out the most rich colud of smoke. I have been told to change the fule pressure reguator. I still need to do that. But I was just courios to see if it has happened to others. It is in a 2000 Chevy 3500 HD Flatbed. Thanks

i havent seen this one in a couple of years, but i remember it well, im assuming this 454 is a few years old, all big block chevys have a starting problem when their hot, this is caused by the factory exhaust running too close to the starter motor, gm came out with a kit in the mid 80's directed at stopping this problem it consisted mainly of a heat shield installed between the exhaust and the starter you might check with your local dealer and see if he has any left or knows where some might be,
