At least I have made people aware of this. I have had an idea. Do you think it would do any good to lobby our state regulators and see if another drivers manual could be issued for anyone who has a vehicle with a trailer hitch? Even in the automobile manual think should mention the 10K rule and have as a question on the test. Good or bad ideas? Doug

What about the trailers with the load levelers and seems nobody knows how to use them. I think any trailer longer than about 14' should have to be on a 5th wheel hitch or at least not on the bumper it puts to much weight on the rear end of the vehicle and doesn't handle right. It would also get rid of some of that tail waging the dog thing.

I think anyone who's going to be pulling a trailer should have to demonstrate some basic skills and have a general knowledge test on same.

I think the whole thing of driver training; the giving of a license; and the way the law enforcement enforces the way people drive; From small compact cars all the way up to big rigs; is a total joke.

Not to put down on anyone but have you ever looked at the way people drive and how they will try to drive something that is out of their league.

Examples....
Running the exit only ramp to the last minute then cutting back in so you can get 3 spaces up in line.
Starting like a jack rabbit in the left lane on a 4 lane highway from a red light when you want to turn right in one block.
Running the left lane on a interstate then cutting in at the last minute to get off the exit ramp.
And do not even get me started talking about watching a soccer mom that can not even see over the hood; trying to park a 1 ton dually in the wal-mart parking lot.
