Pay the $ 200 and get the best hitch you can buy. it's your life it might save. Don't listen to those that tell you you don't need a good hitch .

Have you considered an after-market bumper (Schuck, DMI, etc)? I don't know of any farmers who use a receiver hitch around 'here'. They extend and slide side to side to make hitching up simpler.

Here's a link for Schuck; never had one, but they've got a great reputation. I've had a DMI for about 15 years.....a quick search didn't turn up a web site. As I recall, mine came thru the local Farmer's CO-OP.

Apparently DMI does not make bumpers anymore. While doing a search for bumpers for my truck I called my fertilizer dealer to ask where they got their bumpers for their pickups. I was led to an Ag Brute bumper and bought one. I love the thing. I can pull 6-ton fertilizer carts and never feel a thing. I had a factory receiver hitch and thought it looked very light duty. This thing is not light duty and looks good, too. Mike

JUST THINK ABOUT THE STUFF YOU ARE HAULING AND THE LIVES THAT YOUR TRAILER COULD COME IN CONTACT WITH IF THE HITCH FAILS BECAUSE IT IS CHEAPER THAN OTHERS AND PROBABLY MADE IN CHINA. GO TO U-HAUL AND GET A CLASS 5 DRAW TITE HITCH BECAUSE ALL OF USE KNOW MOST PEOPLE OVERLOAD THE HITCHS ANYWAY. RC

If you scroll down to the bottom of this link there are some class V hitches for under $200. Of course you have to also pay for shipping...

I've got a pallet of hitches that I bought at an auction- but shipping from Va to you probably more than it's worth. What kind of truck?
Have you tried a junk yard- probably lots of trucks in there that died with hitches on 'em!

Everything costs more today. Bought a new Chev Equinox not long ago. Had a class 2 hitch and wiring installed. It cost me just over $200.
Like my Dad used to say, "It's not what it's worth, it's what it costs."
