What controller is small yet functional to fit in a 2006 Ford Expedition. I mounted my old Tekonsha Mark 12 from my pickup today but it kind of get in the way for my wife. I need one that takes up very little room. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Gary and nylon.

I have a cheap drawtite type in my Dakota. It has similar space issues I imagine. It is not the world's best controller and I usually have to adjust it a bit each time the trailer is loaded, but it does the job for as little as I am pulling my trailers AND have them loaded enough to need the brakes.

Gary, try looking at Gebo's or Tractor Supply. Not knowing how easy the installation would be (last time I installed a brake controller was before joining the service) I had one installed in my 07 GMC when they did the spray in bed liner. I've seen the same one sold at Gebo's for half of what I paid for mine...live and learn right? It's a Break Force that doesn't take a lot of room. Not sure what harness you will need or how much they cost because my pickup came with the harness. Saw a post on this forum about installing the brake controller and did some research. It must have taken that shop a whole 20 minutes to put that controler in because I don't think it would've taken me more than 45 minutes.

How's the MM coming? Hope you have fun with it. I'm about to lose my chances at the projects at the farm due to lack of place to put them, the thieves that are infesting the place, and other family members wanting to disperse of all things including the property. I'm also headed back to Korea, have a RNLTD of 10 Nov for Osan. Will put the GMC in the shed behind the house. Most likely this will be my last assignment, wife's getting tired of this BS and I'm starting to just get tired. She still won't move, and with the price of fuel and driving, I'm getting tired and starting to get old. Will have 24 years in after I finish my tour there; have requested Cannon and Kirtland for a follow-on...maybe that will make her happy. If I don't get one of these I'll play the dream sheet, and if still don't get what I want then will drop papers.

Take care and keep in touch. If you hear of any decent jobs in the area that pay better than minimum wage let me know. I'll be surfing the classifieds more seriously to see what they have to offer real soon.

Jim

I'd go with the Prodigy. I just got one for my truck and Love it so far. I got the controller and the right wiring harness off Fleabay for $65. I figured thats about half price.

Or if you dont think she'll like that one have her decide which one to get so cant blame you!

go with the same brand, but Prodigy model. Small, mounts at any angle, digital readout to make set up easy as you change loads. About the size of a pack of cards. regarularly about $139, I see them on sale for $99 often. I have one in the 2500, the suburban and the motorhome- bombproof

Gary,

I posted earlier trying to find out if the Drawtite brand I have is any good. It is Drawtite like the hitch brand. It is a fairly compact unit. Just awaiting feedback on its usefulness.
