I know now I should have stayed away from this truck, but I"m stuck with it for a couple more years it looks. I have had this F350 Dually now has 46,000 miles, 6.0 diesel in the shop for 10 of the last 21 days. Filters, Injectors twice, then an alternator and one very unhappy Ford owner. I have had 8 new Ford trucks and this is the first time I ever had a warranty work that took more than one 10 minute fix on a 1980 model.

I am frustrated. The first stop I was informed one injector was out and that the truck had never reeived computer updates. Come to find out these were updates that were out before I took delivery on this truck new. We"ll see who covers the 50 mile towing bill and all the repairs. Had to beg a dealer to get me a price on this truck now I will have to beg a Dodge dealer to take it away.

Done ranting. Are there more problems I should know about out there on these things?

I have been told the new 6.4 has been a very good engine with no problems. Also the older 7.3 was excellent.I have a 2000 F-350 with a 7.3 that has been a great workhorse for me.Ford has been in legal battles with Navistar ever since the 6.0 came out .I hear now Ford would like to get out of its contract with them and either build its own engines or look into another manufacturer.

The Ford 6.0 diesel is a disaster.

-Sorry-

You will find more people that have had problems with it than any other 1 ton diesel. Heck, you could probably add Chev and Dodge issues together and do 5 years of their combined issues to every year of Fords issues and still not be close !

If you can dig into the VIN and determine if it had lots of problems, you may be able to undo the deal. (?) maybe...

I wouldn't call the 6.0 a disaster. I have a 2003 F-250 6.0 4X4 and 6 spd manual with 140,000 miles and NOT ONE MAJOR PROBLEM! It has 2 reprograms that took 10 minutes to complete and a turbo inlet pipe replacement that took 1 day. It looks like people need to STOP complaining about dealers that won't work with them and find one that does.

you just started with problems my bother.
15 times in dealer
27 injecters, rear transmission housing,2 egr cooling towers,1 turbo, head gaskets and head bolts, towed 6 times.not paid by FORD. 15 nights in motel not paid by FORD.truck was sold at 160,000 miles if you can sell it you better get ride of it. i had 3 6.0 with 1 computer upgrade and 1 with head gaskets and head bolt, possy traction replaced. i upgraded to a f-650 with 300 hp cat paid 52,000 and this eliminated most of ford from the truck.

Long Hauler, actually you eliminated Navistar from it. The 6.0 was Navistar's answer when Ford asked for an engine that produced XX hp, torque and decibels, because Ford is locked into a contract with Navistar through 2010. The new twin turbo engine is supposed to be designed by Ford but produced by Navistar. I guess we'll see if it is the fix for the problem. Until then, I recommend a Duramax. Cummins with a stick is good if you can get past Dodge's ugly styling. The 48RE Chrysler trans just isn't up to the torque of a diesel.

there is a upgrade transmission kit for the dodge that i herd of to keep it together when you pull with the truck and add hp to the cummins engine.

I also meant to say the sleeve that connects the high pressure oil pump to the block likes to blow out. When that happens its a crank no start or shuts down like you turned off the key.
