Was I causing road rage?

I don't get on the Interstate much, but today I had to go about 150 miles each way. The first half of the trip I noticed a semi truck ahead of me, but I can't be sure how long because there were semis and cars pulling into and out of the lane ahead of me between the semi and me. He slowed down so I caught up with him once, then he sped up and I forgot about him, then he slowed down to 35 or so, and pulled half way off the road, and I sped back up to 60+ and he sped up, but I continued to pass, and didn't see him again. On the way home I was almost home, exit 104 to be exact, when I got some gas. I got back on and after a while I noticed a semi truck driving ahead of me again. It was the same thing, semis pulling in, and cars pulling in ahead of me and pulling out to pass him. I was paying attention this time a couple exits before I was to get off, exit 80, he started slowing down, the exit before I got off, he was slowing and swerving off the road so that he was in the exit ramps and swerving back on.

This is 24 miles and I was driving around 60 to about 63 miles per hour all day, occasionally hitting 65. Was I doing something wrong to cause road rage?

I try to not drive close to people, and try not to drive beside people. I stay in the right lane, and try to leave room for people to get on the highway. I just noticed it twice and thought I was doing something wrong. My truck is a 1975 GMC C3500 with single tires, I don't think it's very intimidating.

I was in my car on the interstate last summer, had a truck tailgate me for a few miles. He was too close for comfort, less than one second between us. Very little traffic, he could have passed anytime, just seemed to want to intimidate me. I finally pulled into an exit. I dont get it, when I first started driving truck it was kind of a code that we would share the road. I am now actually kind of afraid of the interstate, lots of nuts out there.

I try to drive a little slower and stay right. I was leaving enough room for a car and a semi to drive between us. It just seemed odd, and I worried that I was behind them for too long or something. I went to New Jersey in 2003, from Michigan, to junk out a school bus and save the Allison transmission. They have signs everywhere telling drivers to report aggressive driving.

I certainly hope that you made use of those instructions.

These so called truck drivers, should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
They should be limited to 55MPH, or 15MPH UNDER the auto/light truck speed limit, be resticted to the slow lane, and the fines and points assessment on moving violations should be triple those on non-commercial vehicles.
These yahoos need to be taken off the road,no ifs, ands, or buts.
The true professional, is NOT going to attempt to force you out of his way or run you off the road.

The new log regs it is about impossible to run like the previous poster claimed since your time starts when you come off the sleeper or off duty line and after 14 hrs your done till there is a 10 hour break completed. There is still the 60/70 hour rule too. And a restart after 34 continous hours off duty also.

I'd say both were falling asleep. I see it all the time. It's a wonder there aren't more accidents. They are all cheating their log books (keeping two) in order to make the most money possible by driving as much as poosible. Many of the old drivers are addicted to pills. Wife has a couple of uncles that fit that bill perfectly.

Given the 'quality' of a good portion of these 'professional' truck 'drivers' on the road today, ie. ex-cons, high school dropouts, illegal aliens, failures at other jobs they have tried, etc., he was probably on drugs.
Truck drivers would like to have you believe they are the last of the cowboys, and that the country is totally dependant on them, when in fact the true professional drivers are few and far between.
You could stand an average truck 'driver' and a hairy ape side by side, and be hard pressed to tell the difference. Truck stops are notorious as being hangouts for drug dealers and prostitutes.

SO, where did you pick up your on line name? It just doesn't seem to fit...

But seriously, I knew a guy that was in the safety department of a major trucking company. His guys got in trouble all the time for using "road asprin" aka speed. They also liked to stop and "relax" with a smoke then get back in the saddle.

Shudder

i don't think it was anything you were doing, i think either the truck driver was having mechanical problems with the truck, like fuel filters stopping up, or maybe was nursing a flat tire anong untill he could find a tire shop to get it fixed, more likly a fuel problem since he was able to speed up once before slowing down again
