I have a massey fergus 135 diesel 1970 model. It grabs into reverse and I can't get it out. HI/Lo range works fine. It has done this before and I had the guides replaced. Tried the screwdriver, but no luck. May be doing it wrong. Need suggestions.

My suggestion would be to pull the trans. cover where the shift levers are and look at the shift rails. The left shifter for forward and reverse is not switching to the other rail and guides, with the cover removed the cause should be apparent.

My lathe is stuck in reverse. Every time I try to use it, the doggone thing puts material back on to my workpiece instead of taking it off. Am I doing something wrong???

Your standing on the wrong side of the lathe.

Can't be. The other side is next to the wall of the shop. There ain't room for me to get in there. I wonder if the power company is sending my 'lectricity down the wrong wire?

This is a common problem addressed many times on the Tractor Talk board. Your lathe is set up for a 6V positive ground system and has been converted to a 12V negative ground. Just don't turn on the lamp, as it will suck all the light from the room.

Well at least now I know why I keep bustin' my shins when I work in there at night.
