Hi - Would like to know what you all think of this unit, it fires up oil pressure before you start your engine, supposed to cut wear by a large percentage. My brother is putting one on his MCI bus with 8-71GM. He says the idea of doing oil changes by just pumping the oil out is also very appealing to an owner/operator doing most of his own maintenance. .

Ron Its a excellent idea as far as preventing engine wear at start up and shut down. There are readily available kits in the heavy truck and equipment after market. Also as the other person commented its available as a option on Delco heavy starter motors. As far as using it to do a oil change its common in marine applications but on truck and coach your still best draining from the oil pan.The reason for this and from my experience is many times I have found impending engine failures such as alternator and blower drive parts stuck to the drain plug or blocking the drain hole and able to correct them before major failure and down time! Good Luck Dieseldog

Delco had a starter that had a pump built into the end of it, when first engaged, the starter would pump oil, then engage the starter.

If you want to save about $450 plus the labor and oil leaks your gonna have just go to Auto-Zone and get a high velosity inline electric fuel pump.
Put a "T" adapter underneath the oil gauge sending unit from the block and plumb in an electric cut off valve, then the pump between one of the fittings in the bottom right side of oil pan and this "T". Hook the fuel pump and the cut off valve onto the same electric switch so that when turned on the valve opens and the electric pump come on together.
Let the pump run a minit or so and you've solved the problem for about $50-$60, instead of $500.
This bunch had a good idea, just it's 10 years too late.
