How does one get the blades off for sharpening? Will I have to drop the dishpan? There is no access hole in the top to put a socket thru. Guess I could cut one?

If you don't have a hole, I'd cut one. DON'T Make it much bigger than the OD of the socket you'll use.

It helps support the socket and keeps things from spinning if you have to put some 'whoopie' on it.

I have the factory hole and ended up using my 1" drive sockets with an 6 foot piece of pipe as a cheater. Then as I held pressure on it my buddy wacked it with a singlejack.

Get some penetratig oil on the nuts a few days in advance if you can.

Don't know the Howse mower, but most folks arround here lift the deck on end with a backhoe and chain and sharpen with a hand held grinder.

We bought a 6Ft HOWSE brush hog about a year and a half ago,and last month the gear box went out on it about the time the warnity went out. The dealer would not warnity it so we had to pay another $580.some dollars for a new gear box. The one they put on is still making the same noise it made just before it went out. If Howse can't put out better products I suggest they get into another line of business.

I had to drop the stump jumper disk on mine. The owner's manual said I would need to use a puller, but it just dropped right off once I pulled the cotter pin and castellated nut.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Mine has the hole in it, and it sure makes it easy.
