A friend of mine has a Dodge Brothers tractor that
he is restoring. It has a narrow front with open
sector gears, a flathead 4 cyl engine, a gas tank
behind the seat. and a truck style rearend. I have never seen one of these before and have no idea
what the paint colors should be. Does anyone
have any ideas, If so contact me at [email protected]

Jim; I can't help you with the color, but I am a Dodge Brothers fan and have a 1922 Touring car. I have found a reference to the fact that the DB chassis was available in 1918 for many applications. In The Dodge Story, by McPherson, he states that"... it quickly became common to see such special duty vehicles as fire engines and funeral cars riding around mounted on Dodge chassis. Ambulances, special delivery trucks, farm wagons and almost every conceivable type of special vehicle could now be had with the DB business chassis." I would not be surprised that a tractor version was made by someone. The 4 cyl 22hp engine and tough chassis was well suited. Dodges were used as ambulances and staff cars in France in WW 1, and our General pershing used them there and earlier in the Mexican campaign in 1916. They had a well deserved reputation for being *tough*!.

Sorry for length. I would be extremely interested in more details about this tractor, and will correspond with other DB people in the national Club if I can get more info. Hope this helps shed some light on it.
