Does anybody know of a good auto repair message board? I have a Buick with ABS problems, and I can't find anything.

Thanks for all the info, guys. All the signs point to a bad torque converter lockup solenoid. Its in the shop today.

Its a 92 Skylark, and I thought it was ABS because it would grab and lock up on stopping. But now I'm leaning toward trans, because yesterday it did it just slowing down going uphill to a stop sign without touching the brake at all. Also, it doesn't do it if you downshift the AT manually before braking. So I'm going to go talk to the trans man today. Sure feels like a brake lockup though.

Sounds like the sensor in the tranny that tells the clutch to disengage when slowing down. Had one replaced last year on similar GM car. About $200 at the tranny shop. Watch out. Some tranny people will tell you that the tranny needs to be rebuilt. Good luck

Tim, if it was an ABS problem you would feel the brake pedal pulsing & get hard, or the ABS light would be on. It could be a brake problem though. If you feel it again, kick the trans shift lever into neutral while its doing it, if the problem goes away it probably is a trans problem, if it is stiil there it still could be a trans problem or it could be the brakes locking up. Post back if you can determine which system it is and I will talk you through some basic tests.

Tom R., you are a champion and a scholar! I have been looking for a site like this forever. Do you know of a large truck site like this?
Thanx greatly. Tom S.
