: : Help! I have ran out of ideas on how to get the rear wheel hubs from JD splined axles. I've soaked them, heated them, used 3/4" all-thread through the hub and to a 1" steel plate to bottle jack against -- no luck! Suggestions? HELP! : I think that both Two-Cylinder and Green Magazine have technical counsels to help with your problem. I am anticipating the same problem with one or more of my tractors.I've been where you are before. For about three months on one wheel! Here's what worked for me. First, Jack up tractor, remove rear wheel hub clamp, and then try everything (except heat) that you did. THEN, when you are ready to give up, Soak the axle hub in rust penetrant (BLASTER was best I could get ahold of); Jack tractor up and unbolt cast iron wheel center from axle hub (six bolts) and bolt a 3/4" steel plate about 8" square with two holes in it to the hub. The center of the plate should be against the end of the axle. Then squirt more BLASTER on it. Tighten the two bolts as tight as you can get them, and then squirt some more BLASTER on the hub. Then have someone take a sledgehammer and hit the steel plate in the center as hard as they can. (My son excelled in this task) Squirt some more BLASTER on it and tighten the bolts some more, and hit it some more. Repeat as necessary. It will come off! Second wheel took us just two days, three cans of BLASTER, following this procedure. By the way, if you don't work up a sweat, you're not hitting it hard enough. Good Luck!
