What's the deal with these oil-les compressors. I am only familiar with the cast iron, oil compressors. These new ones scare me. Any comments?

There not very much louder than an air compressor that needs oil. Besides, you dont need to worry about forgeting to oil it. The oil-less last longer too, believe it or not.

well i would agree with JR Bridewel that there not much noisier because i own one. Maybe just the cheap ones are noisy. And once you get one of the oilless ones you will quickly notice it is not so loud and get used to it too.

Dont worry Paul. They wont break down on you. They are lubricated at the factory(some companies call them "permanently lubricated" or "maintenance free" You dont have to worry about oiling the thing as the lubricant is sealed inside. All you do is plug it in,close the drain petcocks, and turn it on.Then connect your air hose to the regulator, connect your tool to the air hose, adjust the regulator on the compressor to the reccomended pressure for the tool you are using and thats it! The compressor will take care of itself, although you may need to take the cover off the pump/motor and clean the air cleaner.
