If it's anything like a 78 F250 (Dana 44) it's no fun but it can be done even without the air chisel. I did mine laying in the snow in Alaska, middle of winter, with a flashlight. Never again though. Next time I'll just shoot it.

I don't know about F250's but I've replaced several sets of ball joints in my past. You NEED an air chisel REAL BAD. The factory usually rivets the first set on but replacements use bolts in the holes left by the rivets. You can pop those rivet heads in about 5 or 10 seconds each with an air chisel but you'll go through a whole box of band-aids and all your vocabulary if you try it with a hammer and chisel. A grinder might work if you don't have access to air.

You also need what's called a "pickel fork" to remove the ball joint at the other end. The job isn't real hard to do and you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Did I mention that you REALLY NEED an air chisel?

I don't think these are like the riveted joints you are thinking of. The problem is the whole knouckle has to be disasssembled, brakes, axle shaft , and all. Lots of work. Then you get into alignment fun... You need to remove the knuckle, using typical techniques for removal of the tapered studs. Then you have to press out the ball joints, then Install new ones. Install the top one first according to my manual. There are caster /camber adjusting sleeves that must be in the correct position for alignment. Reassembly is as they say in the classic line, "Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly..."
This is the kind of job I would shop around on and have done, unless I was very confident. You will still need an alignment when you are done. What I would wonder is why all four ball joints would need replacement on a 94 truck, unless someone is not checking them according to Ford specs. Or possibly the boys at the Midas or whatever shop work on commission..

You probably can't even get the parts. Fords are disposible trucks anyway. Buy Chevrolet.
